What are the causes of food allergy? How can food allergy be predicted and prevented? Are there alternative or better treatments for food allergy? If you and your family are willing to invest some time and energy, you can help us find the answers to these critical questions. The knowledge we will gain from your participation is invaluable. So please help our dedicated researchers by following this link to find out more.

IS YOUR ALLERGIC CHILD WORTH 2 HOURS OF YOUR FAMILY’S TIME?

Of course you answered YES!  Help us help your child!  Here’s how:

  1. If your family is one of the 500 who have already participated in the Children’s Memorial Study, THANK YOU.   If we can each recruit just one family who has not yet participated, we will meet the 1,000 allergic family goal.  THINK:  who can you find?  NOW is the time to act!  We are ALL busy.  Not participating is simply not an option (refer back to the title of this section).

  2. ALLERGIC threesomes are needed:  Mom, Dad and allergic child.  To answer some of your questions:
    1. Yes, it’s best to have everyone in the family (including any non-allergic siblings).  It’s IMPERATIVE to have both parents and the affected child.
    2. Can one parent and the child come on one day, and the other parent come at another time?  ABSOLUTELY.
    3. Dads are NEEDED.  Some haven’t participated; PLEASE have them follow up.  The Study personnel will test as quickly as possible.

Goal:   This study is in response to the rapid rise in childhood food allergy and the lack of effective prevention and treatment.  It is designed to find answers to some fundamental questions: what are the causes of food allergy?  How can food allergy be predicted and prevented?  Are there alternative or better treatments for food allergy?

Who is eligible?:  This is a family-based study.  An eligible family includes both biological parents and at least 1 food allergy affected child (0-21 years).  Both parents and affected child must be willing to participate.
